Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

It doesn't have any feathers on its head...it's only like 5 days old. It just hasn't taken to eating solid food at all.

Oh so sorry. We had a WL that hatched but wouldn't eat. It passed away by day 3.

My Blue laced red Wyandotte "Winnie" has been sitting on 3 FBCM and 2 EE x FBCM eggs.



One of the EE x FBCMs just hatched and the other is pipped. No sign of any pips on the pure FBCMs yet.

Hello! My two broody black tailed white Japanese bantam hens just hatched (sharing a nest!) 13 healthy chicks today out of 13 eggs! This was both my first hatch and their first hatch so I'm thrilled that this turned out so great! It's sort of funny though to see both hens thinking they're the mother of the chicks. Poor chicks are probably so confused

Thats is awesome, I have had hens share a nest and chicks when hatched they did a fantastic job. Don't forget to post pics.
