I was dealing with mites again tonight, ugh. I moved Betty White to the broody coop yesterday [maternity ward] and like a dummy took along some of the old bedding from her nest box.went out there this eve. to gush over her lil chick and to see how far along the other had come when i looked and saw mites crawling on the egg shell of the chick thats trying to hatch, oh my gosh I had to take Betty and her chick and egg out of the coop put all the bedding into a plastic garbage bag tie it up and put into garbage can then spray the heck out of her coop check her out and she still had mites on her even after treating her yesterday with Epernix, yuck, so I put more Epernix on her then sprayed her with PP I hope I haven't killed the poor thing and her off spring. I checked on them right before dark and they were still alive. Now i am paranoid, I treated everyone last evening and also sprayed out all the coops bedding walls. etc I guess I'll do it again tomorrow. What a bummer haven't had mites for 2 years only second time to have them too.

no they will be fine. It is timeFeeling sad today. The mama hen left the babies and went into the cop with the big girls. The poor little things were lost when it was bed time. The big girls didn't let her back on the roosting bar and she is sleeping in the nesting box. I want to go get her and move her back to the babies. The babies were hatched May 27th so they are fully feathered and she already took them to the roost. They have two separate areas that are connected by one fence wall so they can see each other. When I let them out to free range, she took off without them and even when they were hollering for her, she didn't pay them any attention. Just sad for me...........I liked watching her take care of them. She had been not sharing her food with them for about a week and started laying again also. I just think she is done.
Should I go put her back with them?????
they will be fine. I have 3 that are younger than yous who just lost their mother to a fox. They are perfect healthy happy little chickens at 3.5 weeks old. They are doing just fine living their chicken lives. They are really quite cute runnig around in their little flock of 3. Your lil ones will be fine. We all dislike when mama lets them go, but it has to happenI guess I am projecting my human emotion on them. Poor things were so confused!
