Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

So mad, something chewed through my coop and killed my broody and ate most of her eggs.

and the other eggs is getting there i think mumma hen may have knocked the egg when moving it

Oh no I'm so sorry. That must have been awful to find. Do you have a bator to put the remaining eggs into? Or another broody to take them? If you don't you can warm them in a yogurt maker or any variety of homemade ways.

Probably a raccoon?

Does anyone know much about this chick crumb? My laying hens have ate it and i was wondering if it's stilll ok to eat the eggs?, i REALLY hope so because i have a big order of eggs to fill this week end!

It doesn't look like it was medicated feed, so I would say you are good.

I hope not, the problem is they do a medicated one and non medicated and i didn't take notice of which one i baught so i will go to the pet shop today and ask, because if i cant use the eggs then i am 23 eggs short, and i think they got in it last week and i ate the eggs -__-

Found this and the short form is you are ok to eat the eggs. The stuff they use to prevent cocci stays in the digestive system and isn't absorbed by the bird.

Thanks alot . Now i don't have to wo0rry about eating them, oh and everyone Melow and the Orp have a tester, to see if they can get the chicks to bed tonight i tryed to show them for the past couple of nights. If they get them to bed i will let them stay out constantley

Ive just been up to the pet shop and the food is farmgate but in a brown bag, anyways she read the label out to me and it said nothing about being medicated but it said "do not feed to replacment layers after 16 weeks of age"
