Hey Tripp, so you have 2 girls, and congrats on the eggs, when my girls are broody they walk around looking like Sumo wrestlers all puffed up and squeak at everyone and everything. Once they feel they have enough eggs you'll start noticing feathers inside the nest, thats usually a pretty good sign they are serious.Hi everyone!
Well some of you may know I got ducks a while back as ducklings. Well now they dont miss a day of laying and have a huge perfect nest under their house covered up with straw so I cant find them. But I would like to know. How do you know if a duck is going broody? The reason I ask if my Cayuga Lilly was walking around fluffed up doing a loud under quack but soon stopped when I cleaned their pool out.
Could that be her "broody cluck?" Also how long if she does go broody should I wait to see if shes dedicated?
really? how do you know?bet the one with bald patches is a rooster
just been my experience. Not always but many times my chicks who have the bald spots are roo's. A rooster puts it's nutrition towards body size before feathers. It isn't a 100% way to tell, but a good sign it maybe a roosterreally? how do you know?
