Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

I think both my chicks are boys!! :(, im 80% sure the orp is a boy and 100% the cuckoo maran is. I might keep them both but 3 cockerels is pushing it with the hens, it will all depend on the hens condition when they start mating. If i only keep one it will be the Cuckoo Maran and the Orpington will go :(

By the way CONGRATS Bobbie chicks, Smokey is lovley and her babys, but i seem to like Topsy more, hope she gets a few chicks :D

Some pics i took today :): Oh and Melow is laying again now :)

Ginger got put in these picks by a accident, might aswell keep her in, she is eating alone because the Orpington wouldn't let her eat with the other hens.

If I were you, I would keep that orp before the marans. He is much cuter, and the marans looks to have weird barring to me.

The Maran has much more of a character though!!, I might keep them both, will see next year...

Yeah the baby under Topsy finished hatching. I'm not sure if she has any more that will hatch. There was one orpington with a pip - but I haven't seen any action on it. So we'll see.

Here's Topsy's new baby. The momma is Sunny (EE/WL mix) but the daddy could be either - Welsummer, AM or Partridge Silky - time will tell.
