Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Thanks for this thread! Just in time, Little Girl, my 2 yo Buff Orp, is broody again, 11 eggs...Day 2.

Will try to get some pix and update regularly. She was setting ;ast week and we tried to move her, and she did not like that at all, she ran right back to her favorite nest box, and we started her with some new eggs.

I may try to block off the nest box area she is in and set up new boxes for the other girls... : )

Nifty Setup.
I turned an Old Hoghouse into my chicken coop. I had my hubby and his buddy build me a feed/brooder room with a door to the coop inside. Its Concret blocks to the ceiling. Make cleaning Easy. Wish we had a little more light. Only has 3 sm windows. is 24x12ft then the feed room is probably 8x12 They free range about 2x a week until i get a xlarge run built outside and they can go out whenever !!

my daughter has the same playhouse. Perfect for a broody and her babies!
