Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Here's some pictures of my broody bantam cochin with her 1 month old chicks. I let them out to free range for the 1st time today, hopefully all goes well.

She looks very happy. is she able to fit them all underneath her at this point? My broody's chicks just hatched so I don't know at what point they don't need momma's warmth anymore.

they've been out all afternoon and they don't seem to need her for warmth at all, but it is still fairly warm here in the fraser valley (british columbia). I think they still might crawl underneath her at night though, I will have a peak tonight and see if they actually all fit or if they are just cuddling up together in their nest.

I also have another broody hatching today and so far I have another two lavender orpington chicks and two split lavender chicks. There are also 6 blue orpington eggs but none have hatched yet which is disappointing, I really want some blues!!

PIcture updates of my 3 day old chicks. these little ones have no fear!! not sure why as the last batch screamed all day long, these were out and about today and really wandering off and not a care in the world. it was fun seeing mama show them seeds in the soil, and to peck at things. I put food and water out there in case they needed to be fed. they were out side 2 hours today and did wonderful!
Not sure what they are, but out of four breeds this is what they can be... light b rahma, ( 3 rggs that hatched were blue EE eggs ) 2 I can tell are Rhode island reds, so not sure of the last one... real light yellow, then there is the dark one with the strip down the back. can any one distinguish what is what ? or are they all EE and rhode island reds?
