Im 99% sure Melow isn't in the field so if she is alive she will not have a clue how to get home poor girl, Mebys she will love ruff if nothing gets her or mebys i will get a shock and she will appear in a couple of weeks but its starting to snow so she would struggle to survive, sorry for your loss's, it's horrible isnt it? not knowing if they are dead or alive...I have had the same thing, 7 chickens and a guinea fowl were missing, found a roo and one hen near the house, and then 3 days later, another hen came back! She had a bite on her leg and she recovered well! I miss the other 5 and the guinea fowl especially, though.
Good Luck!Just another week until Topsy hatches her 5 eggs. No idea how many are any good. Hoping she hatches something so I don't have to go to plan B.
So sorry to hear about your chick Bobbies,Thanks Johnn! I got a little worried about her today when I returned home from church and caught a great big Coopers Hawk dining on my tiniest silky - it was the black chick that Topsy had previously hatched. I chased away the hawk, but the chick was already beheaded. Makes me so mad - I guess they have to eat too - but I wish it weren't on my chickens.
I'll miss my little black lavender orpington/silkie mix chick.
