Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

It was so adorable - today was around 64F and Topsy & Vanilla Ice had the 4 babies out in the run scratching around. I saw one of the tiny silky week olds grab an earth worm that was as big as it was! LOL! Everyone was happy until I had to help get them back into the coop. She hasn't taught them "up" the ramp yet. I finally got them inside and was standing around in the outer net covered run when all of a sudden everyone else scattered. A huge hawk had swooped down toward the run - but of course couldn't get anyone because the netting was there! HAHAHA - in your FACE hawk!

I think Vanilla Ice is deffo a girl, i can't imagine a cockerel helping warm the chicks etc, so i think you have a girl and meby this is her practicing for being broody next year, so she could be a great one :)
