Thanks! I did wet the area around the pip and still nothing happened as of 3 am. I zipped a bit for the chick and she popped out at around 5 am! She's seems nice and healthy and is snoozing away now! She definitely thinks I'm mama as she wants to sit in my hand with my fingers cupped over her head! She's adorable and I'm soooo glad she's alive! Three out of 16 eggs is pretty sad though! Going to leave the others under the light for a few more days though!

Hello! New to this thread and working through it. Just received hatching eggs in the mail. How long to y'all recommend letting them rest (point side down) before giving to the broody? Some say 12 hours...is that enough?

And...is 7 too many to put under an 8 mo RIR?

I set a couple eggs about 3 weeks ago under a broody hen they hatched all well and good and I've moved the mum and chicks out of the nest box that they where in about 2 weeks ago and moved them to their own separate cage but if i let her out for a run in the garden she goes back into the exact same nest box and sits there until i take her out, has she gone broody again just after hatching eggs or what??? and she still walks around clucking like when she was broody.

My Mathilda "clook clooked" until the babies were about 9 weeks old. She did not leave their side, tho.

Where are her chicks when she goes back to the nest box? I don't think she's gone broody again but boy they sure can fall in love with their nest box.

So, I have a Bantam Wyandotte. Every night, I find her snuggling with my newest edition to my Bantam flock- Almost like a broody would. Normally, if the Wyandotte was lower ranking on the pecking order, this wouldn't be a weird. She's second- And the one she snuggles with is last. The Serama is probably about half her sizes and still chirps like a chick.
I'm wondering that if I left some eggs in the nest would she go broody? As far as I know, she never has. I got her from a show in August.
