My babies are 2 weeks old today!!

What breed is the mother? I like her! Cute picture .

If she leaves them for too long they could die. When I moved mine they settled straight away so I don't really know. Let us know if she is sitting or not when you return home from work!

relief! just got home & she is sitting quite contentedly in her nest, and didn't get up when i arrived on the scene to check things out -- so i think all is well. hurrah!! thanks so much for the encouragement!

She is a tetra tint....cross between leghorn & rhode island red

I THOUGHT I POSTED THIS YESTERDAY BUT CAN NOT FIND POST....I HAVE A HEN THAT HAS HATCHED OUT 18 CHICKS, THIS IS THE MOST I HAVE EVER HAD A HEN HATCH OUT, ANYONE OUT THERE WITH THIS MANY FROM ONE HEN. WHEN I POSTED YESTERDAY I THOUGHT THERE WAS ONLY 17 BUT THIS MORNING HAD ANOTHER ONE.

Well I think my broody silkie is...um...not really getting it. I put eggs under her and they always end up out from underneath her. I think I might just break her because I don't think this is gonna work. That and will she fight with the other mom when her chicks hatch? I had planned on giving them both eggs at the same time.

She must have been busy stealing eggs from others to get that many. Lol.

I've seen large batches of chicks following behind their mommas, but I've not done that myself. As long as she can keep them warm until your weather warms you should be fine.
