Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Is my broody a heritage RIR?

Well, I went up. Everyone was fine and the ramps were up and it was pouring down and she was just plonked in the middle of the field covering the chicks!, such a strange hen:

Family pic!
Those two didn't even know it was raining.

My question is this.
Dottie has been sitting on two eggs for 27 days.
1 egg has a crack in the egg almost a hairline crack maybe a little more.
Both eggs candled and just darkness in them both.

What is the outcome here.

Thanks.

Are they white shelled eggs? If you are only seeing darkness and no movement in a white shelled egg I'd say it died in the shell or never developed past a certain stage. How certain are you of your candling skills? I would give them a few more days just in case your timing was off and if nothing happens toss the eggs without opening them. If you're curious you could open them outside - but I don't bother.
