Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Ok, It's day 22 and not even a pip. I checked all the eggs.

Welll I think I have another broody - egg count waaay off (I think they laying a clutch in the berry bushes) and another hen missing this AM.... Mama is doing fine except she went out of the coop (she was on on the floor with her babies last night) and migrated back to the wire dog crate we have set up with a chick waterer and crumbles that is in the run-- she sat tight with 3 babies, the 4th got stuck in a crack in the coop (good thing I was home) I heard its cheeping came out and put it back with mama....
Interesting to see if she moves back into coop tonight or what.... (dog crate is covered with a blanket and a tarp cause.... it started RAINING! I need the heat wave back!!!!)....

Take a large cream cheese container or cottage cheese container and put over her head to collect any unwanted eggs.

Hey that is a good idea, my hen is pretty protective as well. I am just glad it does not hurt when they peck.

I'm sorry Hopefully it's just a timing issue. Hang in there a little longer. If nothing happens by three more days I'd candle some and see what's up.
