I have a small coop 3X4 that is being used by 1 mama hen and her 3 chicks and 1 broody hen and 2 eggs. it's a duplex. It's been crazy this year.

our extra roos will go into the freezer and I hope to keep all the pullets.

I had one broody hatch her last on day 25. But there was a lot of nest swapping etc going on in this case. Mine usually hatch between day 19 and day 23. But I did go 25 days once......

did they pip on day 23 or fully hatch? its not truely day 23 tell about 11pm tonight

candled, removes all clear eggs, it they were solid with an air pocket i put them back in

left 10 in there, hoping its just gonna be late b/c she insists on getting off the next every morning for 20mins

I apologize in advance if this question was answered somewhere in this thread. I have a broody sitting on eggs which are due to hatch about 6/6. Today I found her sitting on someone elses egg in the next box over. I felt her eggs and they were cool to the touch.I picked her up and set her back on her eggs and she settled right back in. My question is will these eggs still hatch if they got cooled off today? I dont know how long she was off her own eggs,

did they pip on day 23 or fully hatch? its not truely day 23 tell about 11pm tonight

I NEVER lift the broody to see if there are pips, so I don't know for sure in this case. I only check the nest when she is off.

What is the date she started sitting at 11pm? Mothers Day May 8th? At 11 pm? Just checking.....

I had my broody leave her eggs for a long period of time because I moved her and she wouldn't accept the new nest. I only got one out of the 4 that hatched but the fact that I did get one would suggest that you wait and candle or see if you hear anything when you tap on the shell at about the 19th day.

Going to get a few eggs tomorrow for the little crankypants. I have an animal carrier out and going to get it set up for her to nest in. I hope she likes it more than the laying box. I hear it's hard to move them. All new to me!

i only check when she is off as well, and it was may 7th at 11pm (the eggs arrived in the mail that day)
