Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

And so many more chicks under her this morning, peeping away - counted about 6 or more. And home from work this afternoon there are at least 8 and another zipped

- let's hope at least one's a pullet

I notice the broody is totally skin and bone after all her hard work (though very fluffy, and doing a grand job of covering her chicks). Will she fatten up on chick crumb, or is there something special I can give her to get her back to a healthy weight? She's wolfing down watermelon, but didn't touch corn I offered her.

The two full Polish chicks are very noticeable for being much smaller with bigger 'do's'. The dad is a buff-laced polish rooster, the mums are variously a blue splash polish, a RhodeRock (the broody) and an ex-battery hen, assumed to be some ISA mix.

Here's a few pics:

Heaven knows what they'll look like when they've grown up!

They are adorable!

Something is not right with Little Chicken today. Her wings are droopy and when she tries to poop it's like a white bubble but then it goes back in. I know this isn't the right thread for asking for help but I thought I would post here as well in case someone has seen this in there new little ones. Here is a picture of her yesterday with her wings tucked and all seeming OK. She was eating yesterday for the first time but today just seems to be drinking water. She was hatched on 9/4. Thanks for any advice.

This is my brodie and her chicks, they hatched last Sunday and Monday. I just grabbed some eggs from the flock so I don't know what breed they are.

I have some Easter Eggers, Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, Australorpes and their offsprings are mutts from Differnt roosters. That is why I don't know what they are. LOL
