I love having the broody momma's raise the babies. You don't get to handle them as much as you do if you raise them yourself, but it is so much easier. Plus you don't have the worries of integrating them into the flock because momma does it for you.
 
I have a question? One of my BA hen is supposed to hatch eggs in 3/2 days, and she's been getting off the nest a lot like she wants to abandon it. But she's really really broody and I shut her on the best box and she's covering her eggs but I don't think she's been keeping hers eggs that warm? Any chances they're still alive?? She has 12 but she cracked all of them but 5 and I Candeled one and it wasn't gonna hatch so she's down to 4

Well somehow I have 5 broody hens sitting on everything they can get. Its been this way for a couple of months. I don't know how old each egg is because the other hens keep laying new ones. I am getting at least a chick or two every day.

The three on the right are Broody,



I got a couple of them to get down for some scratch.
