Has anyone had a young hen that has not laid an egg go broody?? She is so antisocial, she had lice a few weeks ago but their gone now.I have a question:
Can a silkie go broody because the younger silkies go under her to sleep ? She eats a little but stays puffed up all day. She sits on a floor level roost most of the day but sleeps in the " nesting box" ( unused so far ), with the two small silkies under her....... could she think she's their mommy???

No. I would look for another health problem other than lice. From your description, she sounds to be ill and the younger silkies are using her as a heat source. How's her weight? Breathing? Normal feces? Look for anything amiss.
Most of the eggs that she is sitting on are turkey eggs, so they are easy to tell apart. I did slip a few chicken eggs under her on day 21, and those I drew a circle around the egg with a sharpie so I know which ones are developing. I will be candling the chicken eggs tonight. I can't wait! What do you do---do you have the "set" eggs marked and remove the added eggs daily?

I can't wait until my broody hatches some eggs so I can spend all day watching her.
