Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

My Grey American Game hen, Tinkerbell hatched out 3 Pearl Guinea Keets today!

I had to take them away from her, b/c she wasn't taking care of them. They're now in a safe brooder in the house.

Okay what do you mean by not being nice? if your concerned about them hurting the babies can you section off a small area in your coop? that way they can still see everyone but not get to them. There is always going to be pecking no matter what. Hens can be mean but usually they are just telling the chicks wrong mama. and then chicks run back to mama.

Last night I got to watch my mama showing the chicks what to eat

I love the new season of chicken TV. I desided to keep the happy family locked up one more day since there is rain in the forcast.

Thanks so much to everyone who shared thier problems and successes--I may have given up on using a broody if I hadn't seen others having issues too and many more having great success with the method. A special thank you to Miss L--you have given us all invaluble encuragement.
