So sorry ya'll had to go through that.

ty. Actually to clarify, the Black Austrolop/Sumatra roo wasn't going to go to freezer camp. But he was a big bird. So being I haven't eaten birds I've raised in 20 years (was turkeys back then) I'm now quite curious to see how delicious they are. Gotta look on the bright side of it! I still have a LOT more Sumatra's to continue to breed, and now don't mind processing out extra roo's. It all could have been so much worse.

Boy that is for sure he could have brought the whole family and wiped you out. It's good to look on the bright side, because like you said now you get to find out how good they taste.

The other is yellow, just not quite there yet... the last has yet to pip but is definitely pipped the air cell. You can sure hear outraged peeps from in there!

Congrats!! I did discover that my broody hatched eggs seem to go from pip to zip a lot faster than incubated eggs! Pics! Pics! Pics!

How precious, yep the other 2 will help the last one zip out of there fast. { It doesn't want to miss anything}.

I can see mine moving around in the air sac (and his beak rested up against the shell) so I assume he's internally pipped, but there is no sound. He's been like that for 24hrs now but still moving around.

Is this normal? How long is it normally from internal to external pip?

Hi! (And hey there Jl and Miss Lydia!!) I HAVE MY FIRST BROODY!!!! Thanks to all of you for the great info - I had no idea what to do at first and this thread was incredibly helpful!!! I moved my girl to a brooder last night and it went well. She's all settled and hasn't left her nest. She's just sitting on golf balls right now but hopefully I'll get some real eggs under her today or tomorrow!! Here she is! Wish me luck!
