I lost one to a terrible broody mum who just left the chick out of the nest to die and I lost the other to a goanna

, which now means I have a goanna problem now.
Sorry to hear of your losses, how in the world do you deal with a goanna? i had to google it to see what it is.

I just wanted to update you guys on First time broody hen Miss Mini , she is setting on five eggs , started with 4 but she stole one laid by another hen a few days later, anyways they all have good viens and a good looking amount of darkness , I coudnt do a good candle becuase my just mumbles mama turned into a biteing pecking ball of fury mama and I had to wait till she got off the nest to poop and wander around for a few minutes to quickly candle the eggs and it was daylight so it wasnt that dark.

what the heck is a gouana?

Its Goanna I belive and its a large lizard about the size of an iguana. Totally capable of eating chicks and even a small pullet.

OK found a picture

The goanna I had wasn't much smaller than this one, but I have seen bigger.
To "deal" with a goanna is 1- Illegal with a $200+ fine because they are a protected species

. But as if that has ever stopped us in the past

Shhh... Last goanna I had met fate with the end of a spade. But I may just trap this one and then release it somewhere else which is still Illegal. So there is no way of removing the goanna legally, which is completely ridiculous. I suppose you could pay a "licensed" lizard man or what ever but I reckon I'm licensed enough.lol.
