Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

OK so I've got the warm cloth around her, there is no chirping and no movement, just breathing. I unzipped her bout 30 minutes ago and just now tool the bottom half of the shell off. And still nothing she's not trying to come out at all... Looks like I'm gonna have an all nigter

Put a damp rag or sponge close to the egg.  That should keep it moist enough.  Use hot water so you don't chill the egg.   No judgements....we all go through it.

OK my gut was telling me to get her out, and I thinkiI was right, she was really stuck in there, there was no wiggle room at all. After 4 or 5 you tube videos, I did it, there was no bleeding or anything. She maybe chriped once through the whole thing. Once she was out she kicked and opened her eyes for a second then closed them. I have her I a small container with shavings, the other chicks are there with her too I hope that's OK . They are only a day old. I guess all i can do now is wait...
I hope she's not too hot, or too cold, and I hope she's comfy enough, and that the other two don't bother her, we only have one heat lamp... Oh my this is stressful!

Thanks! I think I found what was wrong. It wouldn't upload pics from a certain file. Let's see if I can post now...
This is Summer with 4 of the chicks: Midnight, Bumblebee, Penguin and Brigadier.

This is the fifth chick during the assisted hatch

This is day 1, drinking from a dropper and day 2 with his new buddy, a silkie cross.

Question... I have a bantam Cochin hen that's been sitting on two eggs since may 28th ish. I think today is the 21st day and keep crossing my fingers ill check on her and she'll have two baby chicks hatching.
My question is, if they're duds will she naturally get off the eggs after a certain amount of time goes by?

Does it take longer than 21days for eggs to hatch?
