Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Just went to feed the flock for the evening, as I drew closer to the coop distinct sounds of LOUD chirping could be heard, Went in and checked, another hen decided she wanted to share broody momma's nest, Kicked her out and Momma and babies settled right down, did a quick peek and all 6 have hatched!!!

If I seem impressed its because I am, the hen is only around 7 months old ... Couldn't see them very well but could count them...So excited!! I locked her in for the night so none of the others could bother her and the chicks, will let her out in the morning.

One has hatched, I don't know about the rest. I candled on Friday, though that they were at about day 16-17, so the hatching one yesterday was a bit of a surprise. Tried to take a pic, but the new camera is getting the best of me. No worries though, I'll get it figured out.

10/11 chicks from my NN. The last egg she left behind but it was still chirping so I put it in with my broilers and it hatched (saved a life!) Will try and give it back to her tonight when she goes to sleep.

Bella's mother and 2 of her girls from this year!

Think it should be little coco sitting under her mam, not one of the big sisters!!

I have a little different situation here that I'm not sure how to handle. Momma has been sitting, one hatched on Sunday afternoon (possibly more, but only one that I've seen). Anyway, she has not budged an inch and this one chick is going to need food and water tomorrow. If she doesn't get up off of the nest should I take the baby away from her until she's ready to get up, or should I leave her be, or maybe take the chick out to get food and water and then put it back under her? I'm just really not sure what to do, most of my broodies start feeding the chicks on the second day, even if they still need to sit on the nest. Any help is appreciated!
