Wow.. Chicken drama is taxing!!!!!!
Went out to the coop to get some photo's of our 4.5 month old Turkeys, decided to throw some scratch down for the broody that just hatched her chicks a couple days ago, she has 5.. She was in her nesting box and I could clearly see a couple eggs under her ( hens still wanting her to sit eggs) when she came out only three chicks followed her...I freaked thinking something happened but couldn't find them, heard peeping coming from broody #2's nest, thought wait, your not due for atleast another 5 days or so... Looked and sure enough, she had two of broody #1's chicks along with her 11 eggs.... ughhh... I'm thinking the chicks got in and spent the night with her, lucky she didn't kill them!! I moved broody #1 and her 5 chicks to another side coop, separate from the other hens hoping that she will get this mothering thing right... Hopefully now that nobody is laying eggs in her nest she will focus fully on her chicks.
