Today was day 28, not pips yet, Mama got off the nest to stretch and eat, and there was no sign of hatching today. Maybe tomorrow?

Fingers and toes still crossed for luck.

Well our two first time broodies did well and hatched out overnight last night into this morning. All seem to be doing well this evening.

My poults starting hatching today! :jumpy So far she has two, but I'm hoping for more overnight... She spooked me today when I saw her get off the nest. I checked the nest and one of the eggs had pipped. I thought she must not know what she is doing since this is her first time.

She was back on the nest within 10 minutes! A few hours later she had her first poult. She had hatched another on last check. I'm trying not to disturb her but it's so hard!! :pop. I will post pics tomorrow when I can get a better view!

That is great! Fingers crossed for more overnight :fl

I have 3 broody hens. I gave them eggs last Friday so it's been a week. I candled today and of the 12 I set 7 r good and 1 I'm not sure of. So hopefully in 2 weeks I will have chicks. I was hoping to wait till spring but I felt so bad for them. I still have 1 more broody that I put in the grate to break her I just didn't need 4 broodies. 26 chicks coming in April so if I have any broodies, I will slip them a few lol

My chickens have have each run 1 or 2 hatches over winter for the 3 years I've had them.

So far she has two, but I'm hoping for more overnight... She spooked me today when I saw her get off the nest. I've seen even my experienced hens do this; last week one was taking a break even though a chick had completely hatched. The hen returned shortly and all the eggs hatched. They know what they are doing! I checked the nest and one of the eggs had pipped. I thought she must not know what she is doing since this is her first time.

Good luck and don't worry. The hen taking a last minute break is normal. I set 15 Midget White Turkey eggs under a total of four hens yesterday. Shipped eggs-none broken and membranes all intact-I'm hoping to have poults in a months
