Just my 2cents but I'd give her her chicks and put the eggs in the bator, she deserves to have them and raise them, you'll enjoy the show. All the best.

So far I have. This year I'll probably put a few up for sale. Doubles and triples of the same Roo aren't really needed. But of these 4 12 week olds, I am positive 3 of them are keepers. The guy with the kazoo crow, not 100% positive yet. He is obviously going to look just like Sammy, ........ the head roo

so if I don't really need him for breeding purposes, he is a HANDSOME devil for someone to use for breeding!

that Sammy is one handsome boy!

Hey BYC'ers,

Well it's been 21 days and my broody Mottled Java has been a great momma/sitter the whole time. We started out with seven eggs and one hatched yesterday. There are 5 others we are waiting to see what happens. If you're keeping count, yes there is an egg missing and I have no idea what happened to it.
I am writing to ask what normal momma behavior is because she seems to be really rough with the one hatchling. She pecks at it and yanks on it to move it under her. I am just not sure what's normal and what I should be concerned about. If we only get this one chick I don't want to lose it because momma is too rough with it.

Here's two pics of the new arrival. . .

I've seen mine be pretty rough also, I wouldn't intervene unless you see some blood and I mean a small amt. then get the chick away. But they do seem to be pretty rough. Congrats and keep us posted.

Thanks Miss Lydia,

Are you saying any amount of blood and evacuate the chick? Because the chick does have one foot that seems bloody and there was some trace of blood at the base of the chick's beak. I had been attributing this to the hatching process.

Dan
