Miss Lydia,
Is Opie a Muscovy? And was his that the one egg found in a ditch somewhere. Or am I remembering another thread. And are his pictures what you have been using for your Avatar .... as he grows up?

I have Been lurking because I want a a broody or two for hatching duties, and thoroughly enjoying the thread.

Hi, Yes Opie is a Muscovy. They make wonderful broodys and mamas most of the time. The mama that hatched Opie tried to kill him, she was a great broody. My other girls [older ones] when they hatched ducklings were wonderful. Didn't find his egg in a ditch though. lol

He is on the kitchen table to get his diaper harness on. lol
He is so sweet and loving it's really amazing. My other Muscovies are friendly and like to be around us, but this fellow really thinks I'm his mama. Don't know what will happen next spring when he starts to chase after the girls, I already have my other 2 drakes separated because of fighting. I'm running out of fenced in areas.

Question to anyone with knowledge
big_smile.png

I have a hen who has been broody for several days now and I have a dozen eggs coming on mon. Can I slip them under her and she will sit til they hatch? Wasn't sure because by the time I put them under her shell have been brooding for over a week. Would she give up on the eggs if they haven't hatched three weeks or so from when she started?
Someone may have already asked this, I searched but may have missed it, if so I'm sorry for repeating!
