. A few of us are going to have new babies for Christmas.

Well like I said a few days ago, I found Mama's nest, but can't see it. In other words, I can see her, not the eggs. She must be on a lot of them, as she booted out 5 she didn't like today. I'm positive she knows what she is doing. She didn't earn the name Mama by accident

I'm happy the chick has momma for company, a single would be so lonely in the brooder. I'm hoping I get a few more hatching soon as I want to slip them in with her.

I'm still trying to get broody coops built, DH is no help.

He want's to know why they can't just hatch out in the pen where they are. I keep telling him the tiny defenseless chicks need protection and the poor tiny broody hens could use some time out from the roosters. Besides, they are so cute I want to be able to sit and admire them.

Edit:
hit.gif
No pics from me! Just went to take some and the chick is dead!

Momma looks pretty normal, doesn't seem terribly put out. She's a first time mother so I don't think she realizes she's lost it.
sad.png
I was hoping to slip a bunch more under her but nothing has hatched yet.
sad.png
I'm so upset, this was her second set of eggs because the first lot weren't fertile. She's been sitting for ages and has nothing to show for it.
