Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Went in when hubby got home. We got the one dead chick out. :( Didn't find any other chicks so was I hearing them in their shells? We lifted all the mommas (they were so not helpful) and couldn't see any pips but we didn't have the best light. Couldn't hear anymore peeping so I hope they are just sleeping and hatching tomorrow.

Good luck to you too!! I can't wait to have baby chicks running around! I've got some cooking in the incubator too just in case. Me and the chickens are splitting the load 50/50 lol.

This is why I LOVE spring the warm weather comes the flowers bloom and the chicks are popping out of the shells everyday!! I just wish I could hatch alot more than I do. But since I just got a new roo, hopefully he will breed with my RIR that is making me think she is going to go broody soon! Plus when my silkies start laying! Broody madness!!

I grew up a city girl....so country living is pretty new. In the last two weeks I've had to put a thermometer in the wrong end of a horse, built an incubator and planted my greenhouse. The first 2 were not mentioned at all in the brochure when hubby said "Hey lets move to the country."

Welcome to the country life... it just might grow on you. Seeing that you found BYC website.. it most likely will grow on you as everyone here are chicken enablers.

I am from the city too... one year on a farm and I am stuck out here in the country for the rest of my life. I love it!

Oh I am hooked! I always wanted a pony as a girl and we got to give our daughter one for Xmas. There is no way I'd ever go back to city living....bring on the manure in all it's forms..it can only help my garden..lol. The chickens are my pesticide!

X2 I lived in the city in an apartment for years. I love having animals and land and wouldn't trade farm living for anything!

LOL make sure you have a string on that thermometer or its diving for the gold to get it back....

. Welcome to country life. Though in 44 years of horse ownership I think I have had to take a temperature about twice. Knock on wood.

Good morning everyone! My broody Gracie has hatch 3 out of 4 eggs so far! The 4th one is blue egg it feels heavy so Im hoping it will hatch because the babies are not going to want to stay in that nest for long. Lol 2 RIR EE mixes and one little black that I have no idea where he came from. LOL
