Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

"Mama" has been flat as a pancake on 13 eggs since 7am. It is now 4:10 pm. Pretty safe to say today is the day

YES! Congrats!! Thanks for all the advice given to me when Gracies eggs were hatching! Hope you have a succesful hatch. I will be hanging around! :)

no problem. That's what we are all here for. Mama knows what she is doing. She had 3 broods last year. I have the utmost confidence in her to get the job done!
 
A couple of my Australorps are going broody and battling one another for nest box space. I think it's time to set up a broody area for one and "break up" the other. Neither has brooded eggs before so I'm not sure how they'll turn out as moms, but after reading through this thread, I'm willing to give them a shot at it.
