Mama was out with 4 fuzzy butts. She is being SUPER protective. No pics today. She ran from the camera. She is/has always been really hard to get pics of with tiny fuzzy butts. She is a good mama.
her daughter is still sitting tight. She growled at me when I checked on her.

The incubated Sumatra mutts are out in a brooder today enjoying the 90 degree weather. I need to finish their run so they have a perm home.

yesterday she only let me see 3. Today I clearly saw 4 before she ran them off away from me. She is such a good mama.

That's a good plan - you want to make sure she'll stay on the nest - so a couple of days worth of staying at night on the nest is a good test for that. My Smokey spent most of her days on the nest, but went to the roost at night for about two nights. Then the 3rd night she stayed in the nest and wouldn't leave except to poop/eat/drink. I moved her to a new area and she promptly sat back down again on her eggs. However she did have trouble finding her nest because I moved her. So I just picked her up and put her on the eggs myself. Of course when I moved her again she wasn't able to find that nest either. LOL! So again I picked her up and put her on her nest. She finally figured out where the nest was by about Day 14 or so.
