This was so good to see today... Yesterday PM I came home to a big mess of broken eggs. Very upsetting. Zero embryos. She only had 5 eggs remaining last night. So I corralled her up tight and awoke to hatch.
Aww Holly they are so cute... and Congrats on the ones hatching. Do you think the other ducks were getting in her nest? She is beautiful by the way.

Thank you, she is my favorite, really a great mom. I don't know what happened in there yesterday, but I was devastated to see that. I am thinking the others must've gotten in there... Meanwhile they had a full dish of food, so please don't assume that they did it out of hunger. Nasty Event for sure. ... I just came inside, had gone out to look again to see if there were embryos, none that I saw.

...But the Silver Lining, I saw 3 Khaki Campbell Ducklings and one moving egg with a little bill on its way out!

Aww how precious. and It never entered my mind they may have done this because they were hungry, I just know they can all be stinkers when they want to be. Look forward to seeing them once she lets you get close. I usually just butt my way in I can't help myself.

Day 17:
Mama Delilah has had her breakfast and bath and has settled back in for the day.

Here she was doing a little grooming before settling back down for the day.
(actually took this video yesterday)

She's doing so great!! I hope her efforts pay off!
12 days to go!

Thanks!

It's absoultely amazing to my husband and I both that this duck, that was born in an incubator, sold at a feed store, never raised by a mama duck, her mother was born in an incubator, same history, her mother's mother was born and raised the same way, and for generations back, the ducks line have all been hatched and raised the same way, yet SOME HOW this duck has had the natural instinct kick in and she just seems to KNOW what to do!
She's never learned this behavior.
It's pure instinct!
That's just a whole lot of amazing.

She's just as happy as can be sitting on her little nest today!
Occasionally she stands up, grooms and plucks a few feathers, and then settles back down.

Here's video I just took.
I have duck TV on. LOL
