Old healthy hen with pale comb and need help with hens laying soft egg shells. Chicken expert. I do

Why do you want to delete it?

How old are your hens (the one with pale comb, and the other 2 who are laying shell-less eggs? What is your general location? What are you feeding them: Protein content of your layer, mill date on the current bag of feed, how much scratch are you giving them in relation to their layer? Feed available all the time, or are you feeding them a set amount? Do they free range or are they kept in coop/run?

Suggestions:

Get a fecal float done on your flock. Be sure to include poo from the 3 problem birds.

If they are in a coop/run set up, convert your run to a deep litter run.

Be sure your feed is at least 16% protein, and limit the scratch to an occasional, not even daily treat. You could even give them small amounts of kitty kibble which has lots of animal protein. Use this short term, not as a regular part of their diet.

Consider fermenting your feed. There is a how and why article, not written by me in my signature.

Add some multi vitamins to your bird's diet. The gals who are laying shell-less eggs may have a shell gland disorder or a metabolism disorder. Increased vitamins might help.

Dont know what u mean not writtin by u or in your signature. u just wrote it. Back then I all ways fed my chickens scratch feed never had a promblem with it. Now I feed them flock raiser and leanya feed twice a day if I feed them 24 seven they will get fat like my other hens have long time ago. Not saying where I live sorry. I only keep them in pen and barn when I am not home cuz we have allot preditures. What is a float? I know what is fecal is. Cant do that cuz no vet do chickens called so many. What do u mean 3 of what??? Iam gussing she is five or 6. The two others are same age and there fine the other old one stop laying but other two still lay same ones iam talking about. She not sick she acks fine and her stool looks normal. And what kind of multiple vitamin?? Someone on year told me try a med and didnt work wont try no humen meds. And the coop is a new one used one I got for them just has no windows but I did cut a door on side for them to come out and air goes in. The one with pale comb is five or six not sure. And the other two gusaing two and one is older. And there barn is insulated and I use one heat lamp. And shaveings. And one person said could be cuz of there old age she dont have the symptoms so it might be old age. Why do hens stop laying?? I only got three old hens and they came with other who gone now the there are two buckeye I think and americana. They came from a website I odre them from. One of the brown ones I been talking about pale combe. And she lays soft shell while her sister lay hard fine shell. And my amrican hen dont lay none none no more she same age of them. I know every hen is different even if they r same breed like the two brown hens.

I had chickens since I was 12 I did so much reasch now about chickens. I never had to worried all about this or do all these changes I been doing fine when I was little with chickens. Just feeding them scratch feed and ppl in the store knows about chickens and they told me scratch feed is good. And I do let them out when iam home

I have lost track of this thread, sorry. Flock raiser and layena are fine with an occasional bit of scratch grains. Your one hen's pale comb may just be because she is not laying. Infectious bronchitis is a virus that chickens can get, and it mostly causes sneezing. But it also can damage the oviduct and shell gland which are parts of the egg laying mechanism. Thin shells, rubber eggs, watery eggs, and wrinkled shells can be some of the side effects of bronchitis.
I would also check her for mites, since that also can make them pale.
Some hens just quit laying, and may be suffering from internal laying. It is pretty common in todays's hens.

Hi she still laying just soft shell she dont ack sick I wrote. Not sneezing and stuff they did have lice not mites but I did treated all of them. Could it be just she old I have read that might be it. And I read soft shell can be cuz not enuff calcium my chickens dont like oyster shells I leave it out for them or mix it in there food and they skip it all. Since she dont have any symptoms could be just old age????? I all ways fed just scratch back then. Not just for treat. All the time. I might move them back on it. What do u mean inturnal laying????? And dose leayna food help hen lay more or just to help the eggs stronger??, I know laya feed dose
