old hens accepting new couple

I have 5 laying hens. I want to put a miniture rooster and hen in with them for the winter for protection from the cold here in Michigan. The old hens make it miserable for the two. Is there any way for everybody to get along?

But you could seperate & remove both old hens, for a week. That will knock them down the pecking order a bit.
