Hi my name is Ronnie Elliott, Im 68, and I live in North East Texas. I have a farm where I have a wood shop. I have been married going on 41-years to the same beautiful woman. My son & his wife built a fine chicken house, and left it when they got their own place. They had what they call the tamest chickens. You can just reach down and pick them up. They did buy there on house, with a large yard, and moved there chickens. Might as well have mine own chickens since I have already a chicken house.

Awesome...You are lucky to have a great start! (coop already built!)

If you handle chicks a lot from the beginning they can all end up being "tame".

Are you wanting chickens for their eggs or meant or both?

Welcome to BYC!

Looking to find some Buff Arpington chickens and a rooster. I have 5-acres, two acres are planted in hairy vetch, and the other is thined out that i mow with my 6-foot wide brush hog pto mower. The rest of farm is a mix of pines and hardwoods. Thats where the coyotes, bobcats, and and wild hogs play. Have seen one mountain lion. When the hogs get into the hairy vetch the cage traps are ready. The Chickens will be free range during the day. I do like the eggs, and the old hens will be fried, and bar-b-q. Yum. My grandmother had all her chickens in a big long all fenced yard. I do have two cats, I guess they will get clobbered on the head if they mess with the chickens. As far as my dog, she's already learned to leave them alone
