I'm resigning to the fact animal photography is some kind of strange magic off limits to me :caf

It requires a whole lot of patience! :old

And maybe some treats and their favorite toys that make noise, lol.

I think it might be more something my fault. Even when I think they're sitting perfectly still, it blurs.
With my dogs, it's 100% the fact they never sit still :p

What are you photographing them with? Most pets move a lot, so a higher shutter speed is typically best, Sports mode even better. If you're using your phone, you might be able to lock the focus, but I don't know if it would be fast enough.

I am using my phone and I know it’s highly likely to be me that's the issue. It happens constantly since I got the new phone, honestly is why I don't take anywhere near as many photos as I used to. Cause even with none moving objects, I'll take a quick picture in passing and then go back to it later and realize I didn't hold still long enough or something but it's WAY too late to retake.

You have an A-series Samsung, don't you? It's that. They don't have good quality. Mine does have better quality than my last one, but after trying out an S-series, I know it could be better. This morning, I tried taking pictures of my Mom's kitten, Jackson, and I thought I had a good shot, but nope, it was blurry.

My cousin had an A-series Samsung. It took two pictures: A thumbnail picture to show in the camera app, and, if you thought it took the picture, it was still taking ANOTHER picture that was super blurry because you moved the phone since it claimed you took the picture.

The interesting thing about being a RIDICULOUSLY short sighted bird nerd is how I've learnt to subconsciously take not of the colours of the bird around me and whether they common or abnormal etc.
After observing the galahs and corellas on my way into town this evening, I caught sight of a white and grey smudge on a power line and suddenly I was fixated. I had to turn around and go back to it because the fact home was right there did not win out over my curiosity.

I'm not sure exactly type of bird it is, but will find out in the morning.
(If you know/choose to google lens it, don't spoil it :( I like having a reason to pull out my bird book)
