I'm resigning to the fact animal photography is some kind of strange magic off limits to me

It requires a whole lot of patience!

And maybe some treats and their favorite toys that make noise, lol.

I feel like that's easier said than done. If it's pointed at her forehead, it might work until the claws come out.

I think it might be more something my fault. Even when I think they're sitting perfectly still, it blurs.
With my dogs, it's 100% the fact they never sit still

What are you photographing them with? Most pets move a lot, so a higher shutter speed is typically best, Sports mode even better. If you're using your phone, you might be able to lock the focus, but I don't know if it would be fast enough.

What are you photographing them with? Most pets move a lot, so a higher shutter speed is typically best, Sports mode even better. If you're using your phone, you might be able to lock the focus, but I don't know if it would be fast enough.

I am using my phone and I know it’s highly likely to be me that's the issue. It happens constantly since I got the new phone, honestly is why I don't take anywhere near as many photos as I used to. Cause even with none moving objects, I'll take a quick picture in passing and then go back to it later and realize I didn't hold still long enough or something but it's WAY too late to retake.
