So, I've been a member for five years, but this is my very first post. We finally actually got chickens! Our girls are going on 3 weeks old now. We have 4 columbian wyandotte's, 4 easter eggers and 5 olive eggers. Never in my life would I have imagined watching them being as therapeutic as it is. And I ask myself, why on earth did we wait so long to do this!?
We are located a little north of Kansas City, MO. In a rural city, in a small neighborhood. We're allowed up to 10 chickens (3 of the olive eggers are going to a friend), and no roosters, so I'm praying none of them end up being one so I don't have to find it a new home. I ordered them all female through Cackle Hatchery. We're working on their coop/run now. Converting part of our shed into the coop, and building a lean-to style covered run. Gah! I can wait until it's all done and the girls are ready to go into their forever home.
