I joined this group a LONG time ago. I think it must have been around 2008. I had chickens from then until we moved to another state nearly 3 years ago. I really miss having them. I had MANY different breeds back then, all shapes and sizes.
The chicken that started it all for me happened unexpectedly. A great friend of mine's husband is a Magician. He had a sweet, old, snow-white Cochin hen that would help him out on stage on occasion. My friends had recently gone to the state fair and bought a "fresh" version of Miss Chicken (as the old hen was called) for when the inevitable happened to their eight-year-old hen. Turns out, the new Miss Chicken didn't have the right sparkle for work on the stage. Shortly after their trip to the fair, I stopped by for a visit....and went home with a beautiful white hen I named Marilyn.
After driving 180 miles home with a chicken riding shotgun, I knew I was going to need a lot of help. I knew nothing about chickens when Marilyn came into my world. This website taught me everything! Thank you for loving chickens.
So glad I joined again! Time to build a coop!
