"Old" Newbie in Missouri

..I used to raise chickens 20 years ago and learned a great deal from this group. Now I'm getting hens again and am amazed at the new products available , like watering systems and automatic doors ! I've never been 74 before..LOL...it's good to know that I can work around the coop smarter vs harder.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone !
No more than 6 hens and no roosters ( zoning in town). Even if we could , we'd not have more than that..it's only my husband and myself at home. I'm used to Buffs and RIRs, but since we can't free range in town, am looking at smaller dual purpose breeds..they will have a 25x12 foot space with a vertical coop at one end. Even though we live in town, we back to woods and have lots of predators ..foxes, bobcats, racoons, weasels, Great Horned owls and feral cats. Coop will be built soon with a 3 foot deep perimeter "L" hardware cloth plus cement blocks, tin roof over the run and more hardware cloth. Unless the predators have tin snips , the girls should be safe.
