We have 16 hens - 4 brown leghorns @ 1 years old. And 12 Cinnamon Queens - 1 very old matriarch, 5 @ 4 years old, and 6 @ 1 years old. They seem to be in a continuous molt. Feathers everywhere and few eggs - 3 to5 /day. Been doing this since early summer. They all appear healthy, eating and drinking well, no mites or lice (recently dipped even though we haven't seen any), good comb and waddle color. We got the last group as pullets. They were isolated from the flock for a little over a month. Showing no illnesses, we calmy introduced them. They don't free-range, have a diet of Purina 16% Layer Pellets and appropriate veg scraps. They are watered from a rain catchment system. We also periodically supplement their water with apple cider vinegar. They have a large run with deep leaf and grass litter.

Any ideas why we get so few eggs? These hens used to be nearly daily layers.

I think @Nomadicus' advice to increase the protein is good. Is their run fairly secure and predator-proof? The only other thing I can think of is they might've been scared off lay by a predator. Hopefully they will get back on the program by next spring (as most chickens don't usually lay through the winter (in the Northern Hemisphere))! Welcome to BackYard Chickens!

Welcome to BYC.
Any type of stress can cause feather loss and reduced egg production, examples; overcrowding, roosting space in coop at night, feather picking, pecking order issues, not enough feeders/waterers.
Does the rainwater catchment system contain debris or contaminates/ does it flow off of a roof? If so, it can cause Giardia possibly caused by bird droppings. One of the symptoms is feather plucking.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

As far as the higher protein, we switched from layer to Kalmbach's Flock Maker 20% protein solely, with oyster shell on the side for chicks and adults. That's working well, and it's convenient to have them all on the same feed.

Mine are all silkies who could use a little bit higher protein anyway for all that fuzz!
