Hello! I have an old (3.5 y.o. at minimum) quail hen, Tsapa. Shes our little grandma bird, who outlived the rest. She's been getting slower and less active for the past few months, but I chalked it up to old age. She was still able to move, eat, and drink, fine but just napped a lot more.
In the past few days her balance has gotten a lot worse, and she's been even less active. She's not drinking much water or eating much food, and she totally ignores the salad and oats we provide. I also noticed that her breathing has gotten more defined, she doesn't pant, but her whole body moves when she breathes. I got a video of the breathing, and one of her walking, where she seems to keep one leg in front of the other and walks like a fencer. This is totally new behaviour.
Its been pretty cold the past week with some rain so we have been bringing her inside at night. I gave her a heating pad/cuddle buddy this morning and she hasn't acknowledged it yet, but I will update on that front.
Any ideas of what is afflicting her, or how to cure it (or atleast ease her pain)?
