Old Rooster Sudden Stiff Legs

He hopped off their roost today and it seems his legs are stiff and he cannot walk. This is his 6th year, I’m not sure what it could be.

I have him inside, with electrolytes and vitamins in his water. On a thick blanket. Might try soaking him in warm water.

Anything else I could do? I am in Canada so any antibiotics or medication is next to impossible to find…
 
I would give him some time to recover. He may have injured himself or sprained something. He may have arthritis. Check his foot pads for any bumblefoot scabs. I would lower the roost to about 12-18 inches. They don’t need a high roost when they are big or older. Make sure there is soft bedding to land on.

I will definitely let him be for a bit! I cannot lower the roost as it’s a fixed structure, until spring when or if we have any wood. But will keep that in mind! No bumblefoot as far as I can see either.
