(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had wanted chickens for years and didn't live where I could reasonably have any. So this dream stayed on the back burner until now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have six one week (now) old chicks being kept in my spare room.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Blue Morans (sp?)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am a DIY kind of person and having chickens to get eggs for some of my other hobbies just dovetails into my personality..
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Cooking, pickle and relish making, bread making, beer brewing, and soon noodle making. Raising dogs as well.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my wife of 43 (soon 44) years. We have five dogs. A Cocker Spaniel, a 12yo BLIND Australian Cattledog (hope them birds don't hurt me dad), and three English Shepherds (thanks for the new toys dad... NO GUYS THOSE ARE NOT TOYS!)
We live on just under an acre of land out in the country.
I recently became disabled and forced into retirement but that doesn't stop me from exploring other things to keep me busy. I haven't breached it with my wife yet (she's a city kid) but I may put up a sign by my driveway "The Salty Old Dog Poultry Farm" just for giggles.
