Old sears incubator

Can I wire something in to replace the wafer maybe something digital I don't know nothing about the wafer

Sorry, Monday night SciFi Channel :) I would replace the wafer with another wafer, the current GQF ones work great and aare less than $20. Its not to get to temps, its to control temps. As the wafer heats it expands, if it expands to a point it pushes the small button on the wafer braket which opens to the hot switch and stops power from going to the heating element.

I wouldnt want to trust a 50+ year old wafer as they can get sluggish, or the switch can go bad, and when that happens there is no safety in these old units to cut off the heat before reaching 102. I always keep a spare on hand just in case of an emergency.
