old timer method of sexing babies?????

The string and weighted object react to you. It is so sensitive that the slightest thought (transferred by the bodies movement) reads on the pendulum. If you already KNOW the answer... then it will read correct. You have to have an open and unbiased mind to read unknowns. If you want for it to be a girl... it will say girl. You have the ability to read energies, whether you do so consciously or not and this is what allows you to read the sex of the chick and transfer that intuition to the pendulum which gives you a clear read on what you are feeling. Hope that made sense.

edited to add..... if you don't believe it to work, it won't. If you are not connected, it won't. Some people are disconnected from energies around them.... like people who cannot tell what a person is feeling unless they come out and say it. Some are more empathic than others.

I have never tried the "Old Timer" method so think it's time for a experiment!

Well Guys, I can say without reservation that the "old Timer" method does NOT work on all chicks because my baby blue barred rocks are clearly sexed by the markings on their heads and when I did the test, ALL of them let their leggs dangle, boys and girls alike. So there you have it, Barred Rocks can't be sexed like that

Now we know.

My first experiment got all botched up due to having to downsize my flock before they were old enough to be sure. Next year I plan to get sexlink eggs and ONLY hatch the girls

I'm not a man, but I will argue the pendulum theory is not always 100%. I tell you this because my first born daughter got all green and blue stuff at my baby shower due to this test. My 2nd born daughter was accurate.

As for picking baby chicks up by the head, that is scary, as the risk of injury to their fragile little necks is too high. And the thought of that as a way to sex them is just silly. They all react to stress in the way that they want to..regardless of sex. Some will struggle..others will give in and just hang there. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

I like the one about throwing something over their heads and the girls will duck and the boys will stand tall. I've had mixed results with that too. I have 3 roos in a pen now and as soon as I let them outside, then run with their heads low. Based on this analysis, they are hens....but they're not. I've also got full grown laying hens who will stand tall at all times and will spar with the roosters. I have found nothing is fullproof.

Hinkjc,
I stand corrected and am feeling very lucky that it has always worked for us.
We are having a new grandson next month according to this method and the ultrasound but then she went and had another ultrasound and the dr said he couldn't be sure. So we'll see. I don't care either way. New baby all good!
And I agree about picking up chicks by the head. JUST SAY NO!

Oh my, keep us away from the "chick days" at the feed store. For that matter keep us away from the auctions and other poeples farms. We put the "bater" away and vowed to not bring it back out. One day at a time. I have heard this about sexing and never really had too much luck with it. I did however, not know that a chick could be picked up like this.
