Older cabinet incubator... how to adjust temp!?!

The water heater stats work fine you just have to tweak them, all you do is Dell 2holes through the top 3/16"size bit and keep it about 11/2-2" from heat source "bulb" back side facing heat and you will have 2 degrees or less in variance. They work great and are more durable than wafers that's all I use, and you can't go wrong for 8 dollars each.

Water heater stats are cheap, is that why, so many peeps use them. I couldn't understand why not use the wafer, when you can order them fairly easy. You can use them in homemade bators right?

Yup and from what I gather people are either scared or un sure of there mechanical abilities to figure out how simple it is to modify and install for $8 it's a no brainer ,and if done right works 100%perfect and will last forever.I have 3of them I use in all different style incubators, and wii be glad to put them up against those overly expensive digital ones that you cant even fix when they break, case closed to all you hwh haters

On the outside of the cabinet you should find a screw that goes through the wall of the cabinet & attaches to thr wafers. You adjust the temperature by turning those screws, They should have a wing nut/locking collar that holds them in position once you have reached the desired temperature.

Determine which thermostat is secondary & set it 1/2 degree higher than your desired temp. Then adjust the primary thermostat to the desired temp. That way if the primary fails the secondary will keep the temp from getting too high, That's why there are 2.
Which hole does the thermometer go in the top or bottom

Here's a link to the GQF instructions for the 1200 series incubators which use the 2 wafer thermostats. On the first page are detailed instructions on how to set-up and adjust the dual thermostats.

By the way, looking at your photos I can see that the front wafer is dead. I think the first thing you should do is find a couple of new wafers. You can check feed stores in your area or find them on line at a variety of places like GQF, Mcmurray hatchery, Randal Burkey etc.

hth, db
Can you by any chance mark the photo of her wafers to show me what your actually comparing to say the one looks dead please?
