Older Chicks

So, we are new to raising chickens and getting very excited. Some people in our area are selling slightly older chicks (about 4wks) and I'm wondering what the pros and cons are of getting slightly older birds. We also have an issue with snow here. We're in Alaska and it won't be until late April that we're able to get birds outside probably. Any advice? On anything, really! We're super excited but looking for any words of wisdom anyone has to offer! Thanks!
