Older eggs gathered

We found a new nest! We hadn't checked the duck house in a few days, and there were 3 eggs. They hadn't been sat on, as none of the females were interested in the fact that we were there. So, what we want to know is, if these three have been there for 3 days, are they still good/safe for eating? I candled them and saw nothing.

Were they clean and dry?

If so I would think they are ok.

Yes, my husband said that they were. He said they were pretty cool to the touch as well.

I would use them. Perhaps sooner rather than later just to be safe.

I miss duck eggs.

Yes they’re fine since it is winter. As long as they never froze and un-thawed to room temp they’re safe. Once they’re cold, you just have to keep them cold! Happy eating!

That was a good question. I just learned something as well. I wondered what would happen if I missed a day or two.

Thanks for the replies. We are wondering who is laying these particular eggs, since they are smaller than the others laid by Salt and Pepa (sisters). We were thinking the Rouen, but not sure.
