Older geese

Hi everybody! Just joined BYC!
We've raised and butchered our own geese the last 3 years which has been a challenging and rewarding experience. This year we have an opportunity to get older geese ((5 years old) cheap and nearby. Has anyone butchered and consumed birds this old? Appreciate the feedback!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. Sorry I cannot answer your question about buterchering and eating 5 yr. old geese. But I am sure folks on the "Goose forum," will have answers for you.

I have not. But as with any other aged bird, I imagine they would taste best brined and cooked low and slow.
