Older gosling is balding on face. Help?

I've tried handfuls of fresh grass when I put them up at night, and it doesn't seem to deter the goose at all from picking the other one. Even when they're out in the yard, I'll still see the ocassional picking, but not as bad. Why would picked grass be different than non-picked grass? Wouldn't a hung cabbage be no different than picked fresh grass? How would you hang a cabbage anyways (thinking of trying that anyways)?
I've resorted to separating them at nights until I can get outside to let them out into the yard and/or find another solution other than separating them. I won't be able to do this for long once my ducklings are big enough to go outside and into the coop I'm using as a separating method. Do those formulas that talk about stopping feather plucking, actually work? Any advice on how to stop feather plucking would be great!

using a hanging cabbage or lettuce gives them something to do and hopefully helps to break a bad habit, I think I'd get some blue kote you can get it with a dabbers instead of spray since you'll be using it around the face. but put this on the area where the gosling has been picked, it makes the area purple and has been know to stop chickens from pecking. { just be sure to use gloves and wear old clothes when using] Blue kote is inexpensive and can be used for wounds also.

Well I didn't put cabbage in there, but the giant grass stalks we have growing on the property seem to be doing the trick. It's possible my gosling was younger than I thought and just hadn't been growing in her head and neck feathers yet, but they're starting to come in now. It's the only place she didn't seem to lose the baby feathers, while the rest of the feathers came in, but now they're coming in, and the barren spots SEEM like they might be trying to regrow. I guess if the grass doesn't continue to work, then I'll try a cabbage or lettuce.

And is there any kind of fruit or veggie you CAN'T give a goose or duck, because of it being poisonous to them?
